Austin Man Charged with Manslaughter in Death of Girlfriend Regina Jones Following Argument

On a Thursday morning in April, the Austin Police Department (APD) and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services arrived at 85 Trinity Street following a call concerning an unresponsive woman. The victim, Regina Jones, was found by authorities and, despite emergency medical efforts, was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival. A recent update on the case on the City of Austin’s official website has now shed light on the events leading to her tragic death. As of August 21, 2025, police have arrested Reginald Crosby, the suspect in the case and Ms. Jones’ boyfriend, charging him with second-degree manslaughter.

Crosby’s statement suggested that Jones might have choked on food; however, an autopsy revealed a contradictory cause: a subdural hematoma. After the final autopsy report, filed on August 19, indicated homicide by blunt force trauma, an arrest warrant was issued against Crosby.

Further investigations into Jones’ death disclosed that the incident was rooted in an argument between the couple. According to information released by the Austin Police Department, during his arrest for an unrelated charge on May 27, Crosby gave a detailed account of the altercation. He “admitted to slapping Ms. Jones during the argument, causing her head to strike a concrete wall, and then picking her up and throwing her down.” This crucial admission steered the investigation towards Crosby’s direct involvement in Jones’ death…
