Armenian extradited to Austin faces charges for illegal export conspiracy to Russia

AUSTIN, Texas — An Armenian national appeared in federal court in Austin on Tuesday after being extradited to the United States on charges stemming from an alleged export control conspiracy.

According to court documents, Kamo Kirakosyan and others are accused of conspiring from February 2022 through at least August 2024 to illegally export goods — including semiconductor manufacturing items — from the U.S. to Russia through Armenia without the required licenses from the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security.

Prosecutors allege Kirakosyan and his co-conspirators also violated the International Emergency Economic Powers Act by conducting transactions with sanctioned entities on the Treasury Department’s Specially Designated Nationals list…
