AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person died in a crash between a vehicle and an Amtrak train in central Texas on Wednesday morning, according to authorities.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media shortly before 11 a.m. that there was a “major accident involving an Amtrak Train and Vehicle.”
The incident occurred near Round Rock, a suburb of Austin. Amtrak said via email that the train was traveling from San Antonio to Chicago when it “came into contact with a vehicle.”

A Union Pacific police officer told NewsNation affiliate KXAN the crash happened on Union Pacific property at a private crossing, and that one person was confirmed to have died.
