Man arrested for assault in West Campus released to restoration program

A man arrested for committing assault in West Campus in April was released from Travis County Jail on Sept. 3 after a court found him incompetent to stand trial, according to the court records.

Aymen Labidi, who attended UT from 2020 to 2024, was held in Travis County Jail after his arrest in April for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was found incompetent to stand trial in May, according to the court records.

According to his bond conditions, Labidi must stay at least 200 yards away from all UT campuses, wear a county-funded GPS monitoring device and participate in the Community Competency Restoration Program with Integral Care.
