AUSTIN, Texas — A new way to illuminate lung cancer during surgery is now available for patients in Central Texas.
St. David’s North Austin Medical Center just announced it’s the first facility in the area to offer a FDA-approved fluorescent imaging technology.
It’s administered before surgery using a special dye that’s put in an I.V. The dye then moves through the body and when doctors use a near-infrared camera, they can see the dye light up cancer cells.
