AUSTIN, Texas — A woman shot in the head by her boyfriend during a confrontation with police near Zilker Park last week died after being taken off life support Sunday, Austin police confirmed.
Kay Smith was pronounced brain dead following the Sept. 10 incident in which her boyfriend, Brandon Thompson, 30, shot her before firing at an officer, police said.
