Georgia man convicted of hate crime after making threats against Austin ISD board

AUSTIN, Texas — A Travis County judge sentenced a man who pled guilty to sending a terroristic threat to the Austin ISD Board of Trustees in 2023.

In July, 57-year-old Michael Boone admitted to threatening the district’s Board of Trustees via their “Let’s Talk” app in August 2023.

The board was set to participate in the Austin Pride Parade on Aug. 12, 2023. The day prior, Boone sent a message calling board members “sick pathetic humans for allowing and promoting this nonsense,” saying he would have a “sniper rifle ready and pointed” at them during the parade…
