Report: Austin theme park won’t be arriving as soon as planned

Austin’s upcoming amusement park, known as Cotaland after the Circuit of the Americas motor racing track and facilities it is located on, might not open in time for the next Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in October.

Though Cotaland had previously told the Austin Business Journal that it tentatively planned to open the amusement park for the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in October, the timeline for completion is now murky. Matt Hughey, COTA’s vice president of theme park operations, told the Business Journal that the first aspects of the park could arrive in 2026.

Once finished, the park is expected to have more than 30 rides on 30 acres. One of the rides, a tilt coaster known as the Circuit Breaker, has been teased as featuring nine airtime moments, four different inversions and head-chopper effects.
