Major development in the 100-mile trail linking San Antonio to Austin

The ambitious plan of connecting San Antonio to Austin with a 100-mile trail has received significant horsepower to achieve its goal. The Great Springs Project announced the major win of receiving support from the Texas Legislature this year.

With the passing of House Bill 4230, it’s now codified into law that the trail has to be completed by the Texas bicentennial in 2036. Great Springs Project organizers will be working with the General Land Office, Texas Department of Transportation, Texas Parks and Wildlife and local government to create the desired path between San Antonio and Austin, according to a joint September 18 news release with the General Land Office and the Great Springs Project.

Emma Lindrose-Siegel, chief development officer for the Great Springs Project, told MySA on Friday, September 25, that the state agencies have shown support over the years for the highly anticipated trail.
