(SavorNation) – Americans can find tasty tacos in nearly every nook and cranny of the country, but the highest concentration of terrific taquerias is clustered in Southern California, according to a new ranking.
An analysis of Yelp’s restaurant reviews has revealed the platform’s 100 top-ranked taco joints, and almost half the entries on this year’s list can be found in California — with dozens in SoCal alone.

One such eatery — Birrieria Familia Castro in North Hollywood — sits at the top of Yelp’s 2025 ranking of the “Top 100 Taco Spots” in America. Specializing in birria tacos and handmade tortillas, patrons have described this restaurant as a “hidden gem” with “exceptional” food and service.
