Round Rock Police Say AI Is Creating Terrifying Fake Break-In Scams

The increasing usage of AI in the state of Texas is well documented around the state. While some have the items created funny, there is another part of the state looking to use the technology for nefarious reasons. In Round Rock, police have warned residents that AI could be used to trick them.

What Scam Is Round Rock Police Trying To Warn Citizens About?

Per KXAN, the scam involves AI fooling a person to think that their home was broken into. In a release from the police department:

“These images are designed to appear realistic, often depicting a homeless man sitting on a couch, standing in the kitchen, or eating food inside the home.”

These fake videos could lead someone to believe that not only is their living space is in danger, it also unintentionally causes problems for law enforcement. This is due to the fact that the situation isn’t happening at all.
