Second arrest made in deadly Labor Day crash, affidavit says

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 44-year-old man was arrested in connection with a deadly crash that happened on Labor Day, according to an arrest affidavit from Travis County. This is the second arrest made in the case.

Court documents identified the man in the second arrest as Sosimo Aviles Reyes. He was arrested on Oct. 3 and was booked into the Travis County Jail on a charge of collision involving death — a second degree felony.

The crash happened around 9:45 p.m. in the 5200 block of East Ben White Boulevard on Sept. 1, which is near Montopolis Drive. Two vehicles were involved in the crash — a black Honda and a black Toyota, according to the affidavit.

When Austin police officers arrived on the scene, they learned a two-vehicle crash had happened, and a woman was “thrown” from the Honda. She suffered “severe injuries,” and first responders attempted life-saving measures.
