CEDAR CREEK, Texas (KXAN) — Texas Department of Transportation, or TxDOT, crews broke ground Tuesday on an overpass at the existing intersection of Tucker Hill Lane and State Highway 71 in Cedar Creek.
The project will address the surge in population growth and increased traffic volume in Travis and Bastrop Counties, according to TxDOT. It’s part of a larger project to improve the SH 71 East Corridor, which includes plans to remove all traffic signals on SH 71 between Austin and Houston.
“SH 71 serves as a major corridor for drivers traveling to and from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, the City of Bastrop, and east to Houston,” said a TxDOT spokesperson in a press release…
