H Mart ramps up construction efforts on newest Central Texas supermarket

After years of waiting, a second H Mart appears to be on the horizon in Texas’ capital city. The beloved Asian supermarkets chain now lists its second Austin location as “coming soon” online, marking momentum in a project that residents have been impatiently waiting on.

H Mart opened its first Central Texas supermarket and food hall back in February 2018, nestled along Lakeline Boulevard in Northwest Austin. In the years since, company officials have prepped for a secondary location in the North-Central Austin area, registering a project filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation back in August 2023.

That secondary project had an estimated cost of $4 million for the 23,125-square-foot store revamp, as well as a tentative construction completion date in October 2024. One year later, the project has yet to open, although the latest online listing classification, paired with “coming soon” signage outside the future storefront, indicates more movement is underway. MySA also reached out to H Mart for more details on the tentative timeline; we’ll update this story if we hear back…
