Austin residents loudly reject 20% property tax increase in ‘taxpayer revolt’

DALLAS — The city of Austin asked its own residents to pay significantly more in property taxes.

And the residents answered loud and clear at the ballot box, defeating Proposition Q by a nearly two-to-one margin, 64% – 36%.
