AUSTIN, Texas — Three years ago, University of Texas student AnnaKate was lying in a hospital bed at MD Anderson Cancer Center, her world reduced to IV poles, blue curtains, and the slow rhythm of chemotherapy.
Her friends from Alpha Delta Pi sorority surprised her that fall at Blood Cancer United’s Light the Night walk, a moment of light in a season of fear.
Back then, Hodgkin’s lymphoma had stripped her energy, her hair, and the sense of invincibility that college often brings. But what it could not touch was her spirit.
Today, AnnaKate is cancer-free. A proud UT graduate. And a three-time marathon runner.
