Mobile Loaves & Fishes, a nonprofit dedicated to helping those coming out of chronic homelessness, is celebrating a decade of impact in Austin with their Community First! Village.
Community First! Village is a 51-acre master-planned community that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for the disabled and chronically homeless in Central Texas.
Founder and CEO Alan Graham joined Trevor Scott and Sierra Waggoner to share more about the organization’s journey and future plans.
Graham says, ” It all started 28 years ago in 1998. Just some guys going out on the street feeding the homeless, where they are, in a catering truck. And in a crazy evolutionary way, we ended up building a community called Community First! Village that has now created a pretty profound movement throughout the United States.”
When asked about the key to the success of this project, Graham said, “It’s understanding that you and I, as human beings, need relationship. And that’s what Mobile Loaves and Fishes brings to the table. Through the community first village, we create a forged family.”…
