AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin city council’s first budget meeting since Proposition Q failed — and since the city manager released his proposed budget amendments — was canceled Wednesday afternoon after attorneys Bill Aleshire and Rick Fine said that city council may be in violation of the Texas Open Meetings Act (TOMA).
The meeting had been previously scheduled for Thursday.
“In a letter delivered today, Aleshire and Fine highlighted that the posted notice for the November 13, 2025 City Council meeting fails to comply with the legal requirement of TOMA to include a link to the proposed budget and an updated taxpayer impact statement,” the local attorneys wrote…
