Man gets 18 years following plea deal for 2023 Austin murder

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was sentenced in September after entering a guilty plea for a first-degree murder charge related to an October 2023 shooting.

According to Travis County court documents, 25-year-old Emilson Diaz-Edwin was sentenced to serve 18 years in state prison.

The murder charge was related to the death of 26-year-old Christian Raudales-Melendez, who was found in north Austin with multiple gunshot wounds on Oct. 7, 2023. Raudales-Melendez was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later died at the hospital.

Toward his sentence, Diaz-Edwin received a jail credit of 697 days…
