Families of Dual-Language programs feel blindsided by AISD revisions

AUSTIN, Texas — Parents in the Austin Independent School District are voicing strong opposition to recent revisions in the district’s proposed consolidation plans, which they say could negatively impact their children’s dual-language programs. With a crucial vote by the Board of Trusteesset for Thursday, families from Becker, Ridgetop, and Reilley Elementary schools are expressing feelings of betrayal and urging the board to reject the plan.

“It made me feel like all these people, perhaps are not competent, and cannot prevent a takeover from the state.” Joshua Lemaire, a parent from Ridgetop Elementary, said.
