A treasured Asian restaurant in Central Texas has shuttered its doors after more than two decades in operation. Koriente in downtown Austin confirmed on its website that it is now closed.
This homey 21-year-old Asian eatery and tea house was known for offering home-made, health-conscious Asian inspired dishes including vegan and gluten-free options at affordable prices. Many Austinites were saddened to see Koriente leave its East 7th Street home, where it had been a part of the community since 2004.
Although the owner of Koriente did not share what caused the closure, fans took to social media to share their strong reactions, including Reddit user sharpecheddar, who wrote in the r/Austin food group, “I am heartbroken. Best miso soup. The dumplings. The sweet potato noodles. The curry. The summer rolls. RIP to an ATX OG.”…
