Austin man sues APD officer, alleging brutal assault over punch caught on video

AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin man has filed a lawsuit against an Austin police officer who was captured on cellphone video punching him in the face.

The lawsuit, which also names the city of Austin, claims James Rodriguez “was a victim of indefensible police brutality” by Officer Garcia. Garcia’s first name has not been released to the public.
