H-E-B powered Trail of Lights shines among best Christmas displays in US

What better way to ring in the most wonderful time of the year than with a beloved 60-year holiday tradition in Central Texas? Austin’s Trail of Lights is being recognized as one of the best Christmas light displays in the country.

U.S. News and World Report listed 28 of the best Christmas light displays and tours across the U.S. to “immerse yourself in the magic of the season.” The Capital City’s Trail of Lights was the only Texas event to be featured on the list, as the report described the annual show as a “holiday extravaganza.”

Powered by H-E-B, Austin’s Zilker Park is illuminated with more than 2 million light bulbs, dazzling residents and visitors through a festive 2.5 mile walking trail filled with guiding tunnels and holiday-themed sights like Santa’s home and workshop. There are more than 70 holiday displays, 90 trees wrapped in twinkling lights and live events.

This year marks the trail’s 60th anniversary in Austin, where it has remained the city’s longest-running holiday tradition, according to organizers. Visit Austin estimates that the Trail of Lights draws in over 300,000 people each season…
