For Texas as a whole, a salary of $96,506 is needed for one adult to live comfortably. For two adults and no children, a joint income of $125,702 is needed. The salary for two adults and one child is $168,583; the salary for two adults and two children is $202,510; the salary for two adults and three children is $241,311.
In the Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos area, the required salaries are higher, beginning with $114,659 for one adult to live comfortably. The combined salary needed for two adults with no children to live comfortably is $146,151. Then, the salaries are $197,755, $241,436 and $289,037 for one child, two children and three children, respectively…
