AUSTIN (KXAN) — After spending Thanksgiving with family in 2021, 30-year-old George Michael Lopez was shot and killed while driving. Four years later, the cold case detective working on the case promised his family that the investigation is still active.
911 callers reported a reckless driver near in the 50 block of the North IH-35 northbound service road just after 9:40 p.m. on that Thursday. First responders arrived to the scene of his eventual crash, finding Lopez in the driver’s seat with a gunshot wound.
