AUSTIN (KXAN) — Police have arrested a 39-year-old man accused of carrying out a monthlong string of overnight break-ins targeting bars, convenience stores and their ATMs across Austin and Williamson County, according to an arrest affidavit.
Andrew David Kendall was arrested on Nov. 22 in Leander after detectives linked him to at least 12 burglaries and thefts dating from Nov. 3 to Nov. 22, the affidavit said. Kendall is charged with felony theft of an ATM in connection with a Nov. 22 break-in at the Crown and Anchor Pub near the University of Texas at Austin.
Detectives said the crimes followed a pattern consisting of a masked man wearing black clothing and distinctive black boots with gray soles who arrived before dawn in a white Chevrolet Express cargo van and cut through locked doors using power tools. In several cases, the suspect used an angle grinder or saw to force open ATMs and, when successful, stole thousands of dollars in cash, according to the affidavit.
