AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Independent School District officials will hold a news conference Thursday to provide more information regarding the arrest of a driver who allegedly passed a school bus while students were getting off, nearly striking a child.
The incident occurred Oct. 8 at approximately 4:35 p.m. as bus No. 2229 was dropping off students, according to a district statement released Wednesday. Video shows a commercial vehicle passing on the right side of the bus as a student stepped off. The student was not struck.
The news conference is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Austin ISD’s Central Office. Austin ISD leadership, the district’s police department and BusPatrol President Justin Meyers are expected to provide details on the arrest…
