AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Independent School District announced Thursday that its police arrested a man who they accuse of driving a truck past a stopped school bus, and nearly hitting a student at a “high rate of speed.”
It happened on Old San Antonio Road in south Austin around 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 8.

According to an Austin ISD Police affidavit, the bus driver had stopped and activated the bus’ stop-arm and lights. Other vehicles on the road came to a stop.
“Stop-arm cameras are installed at key locations on the exterior of each Austin ISD school bus. When a school bus extends its stop-arm, the system can automatically detect if a vehicle passes the stopped school bus within the enforced zone,” reads the affidavit…
