Hill Country county to spend $17M developing new nature preserve

Hays County plans to spend $17 million on construction projects at Sentinel Peak Preserve, an area of protected land along the Blanco River that it purchased in 2022.

The former El Rancho Cima Boy Scout camp is expected to open for public access “in some capacity” in 2027, Parks and Natural Resources Director Karl Flocke said.
