Former site of Waterloo Records set to be torn down for 112-foot high-rise

AUSTIN, Texas — The small strip mall that housed the iconic Waterloo Records store for more than 40 years is set to be demolished.

Developers plan to replace the building at West Sixth Street and North Lamar Boulevard with a 112-foot glass high-rise. The building is currently home to businesses like 24 Diner and Amy’s Ice Creams.

A demolition permit for the site was filed Monday, clearing the way for the project to move forward…
