Second suspect charged in 2021 Austin homicide case

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department said a second suspect was charged Dec. 17 in connection with an August 2021 homicide investigation.

According to APD, 29-year-old Lamar James has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 63-year-old James Burrows, who was found with gunshot wounds in the 1400 block of E. 38 1/2 Street.

At the time the murder warrant was issued, APD said James was already incarcerated in the Texas Department of Corrections on unrelated charges.

Burrows’ death was investigated as Austin’s 49th homicide of 2021…
