Fareboxes on CapMetro buses will soon receive a slight makeover.
The boxes will no longer print paper passes or sell one-day passes beginning in mid-2026. Those who want a day pass will instead have to use the Umo app, CapMetro Reloadable Fare Card or tap-to-pay credit or debit card. Fareboxes will still accept cash for single bus rides.
Riders cannot use both Umo and the CapMetro Reloadable Fare Card, but both methods offer fare capping, which is a pay-per-ride system that ensures payment never exceeds the cost of a pass.
