AUSTIN (KXAN) — Fall-like temperatures dominate the weekend, but the strong cold front is creeping up from behind, making a last-second arrival to wrap up Sunday.
Saturday
Saturday will almost match Friday, beat by beat, clearing in the afternoon and clouds returning by the late evening hours.
Temperatures will hover around another record with highs expected in the low 80s. The record for Saturday is 82°, so it won’t be that hard to break another record today.
Strong cold front Sunday
We could say Sunday would be the same, but the one key difference will be what we expect on Sunday night.
The next front will arrive late on Sunday and bring in some very cold air. Temperatures will be in the 60s around midnight and take a steep drop through the early morning hours, keeping us in the 50s throughout the entire day.
Strong winds will whip around as the front moves in and stay strong as the day goes on, only calming down by the afternoon.
Tuesday morning will be our next freeze for many.
New Year’s Weather
We’ll be back in the 60s for the final day of 2025 and the first day of 2026 with dry weather for the holiday.
