TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — Travis County has extended a burn ban for unincorporated areas into next month.
The ban was initially issued ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations but will now remain in effect through Feb. 10, unless lifted earlier by Travis County Judge Andy Brown or the Travis County Fire Marshal.
“Extending this burn ban is necessary to reduce the ongoing risk of wildfires as dry conditions persist across Travis County,” Chief Fire Marshal Gary Howell said. “Taking precautions now helps protect residents, property and first responders.”…
