Austin’s oldest Black cemetery nears landmark status after commission’s recommendation

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin’s oldest known Black cemetery has moved one step closer to landmark status in the city.

Preservation Austin says that the Historic Landmark Commission recommended designating Bethany Cemetery as a City of Austin landmark at their meeting on Wednesday.
