A popular Texas swimming hole briefly closed this week after a swimmer involved in a serious incident was transported to a local hospital. Barton Springs Pool in Austin closed for three hours on Wednesday, January 7, as officials treated a swimmer for “life-threatening injuries.”
At approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, an adult swimmer jumped into the water, surfaced and then submerged again, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. Lifeguards first responded by removing the swimmer from the water and providing aid while 911 was called.
A spokesperson for Austin Parks and Recreation said in a statement that the swimmer had a pulse and was breathing. Austin Fire arrived on scene and assumed patient care.
