Crews investigating fire at southeast Austin laundromat

AUSTIN, Texas — First responders are investigating a fire that sparked in a laundromat early Tuesday morning in southeast Austin.

According to the Austin Fire Department (AFD), the fire started at about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday on the 5200 block of East William Cannon Drive, at a strip mall with several businesses.

Crews said the fire heavily damaged the laundromat and that smoke spread into a pizza shop and bakery nearby. The health department will determine whether the impacted businesses must undergo cleanup before they can reopen…
