AUSTIN (KXAN) — Thursday is looking nice, sunny, and fresh, but our eyes are watching the next front and the cold nights coming with it.
Today
Sunshine, dry conditions and light winds (5-10 mph) can be expected areawide today. This afternoon – pretty close to normal for this time of year with many areas moving back up into the mid 60s with temperatures tonight heading back down into the 40s.
Thursday afternoon forecast high temperatures
Next Front
Our next cold front arrives Friday, but not before temperatures warm to the 60s and 70s. Gusty winds will be the first noticeable impact with the passing front as gusts could reach up to 30 mph Friday afternoon. Colder air will follow for the weekend.
Weekend forecast
Saturday’s forecast has been trending much colder over the last 24 hours with highs now only expected to be in the low 50s. Overnight, temperatures will be at or below freezing areawide making for a very cold start to Sunday.
Temperatures on Sunday afternoon will warm nicely with low in the 60s under a sunny and dry sky.
Wetter pattern?
Data is supporting the idea of spotty showers returning Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. As of now, these showers will bring hit and miss rain as temperatures warm to the 50s/60s in the afternoon (no wintry mix anticipated).
