Mendez Middle School returns to Austin ISD management in fall

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Mendez Middle School is set to return to Austin ISD management at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year after the campus earned a B rating through Third Future Schools.

Austin ISD said the school was operated by a charter partner since the 2014-2015 school year due to multiple failed ratings. Third Future Schools then took over managing the school since 2022 and attempted to increase the school rating to a B by the 2024-2025 school year.

That milestone would not be reached until this school year, according to the district.
