MLK Day closures in Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) —  Most city of Austin administrative offices and other municipal facilities are closed on Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Some city services will remain operational. Below is a full breakdown of offices and their business hours.

City of Austin utilities payments

  • Customers can make payments online at coautilities.com or by calling 1-833-375-4949
  • In-person payments are accepted at most H-E-B, CVS, Randalls and Walmart stores; check their hours of operation before arriving

Austin Recovery Recovery curbside collection

  • Curbside collections will follow regular schedules and are not affected by the holiday
  • The city said customers can check their collection schedule in the Austin Recycles app or at austintexas.gov/myschedule

Austin Water’s Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant

  • The plant will be open during regular hours (8 a.m. – 3 p.m.) for yard trimmings and large bush drop-offs
  • The Recycle and Reuse Drop-off Center is closed for the holiday

Austin Parks and Recreation

  • The city said city parks, golf courses, tennis centers and cemeteries will be open
  • Barton Springs Pool, which is “swim at your own risk,” is the only year-round pool open; all other pools will be closed for the holiday

  • For water emergencies, the city recommends calling 512-972-1000
