Whataburger plans major $2M upgrade to this longstanding Texas restaurant

A major upgrade is coming to a Texas-born burger chain’s longstanding Central Texas location. Whataburger recently filed plans for a $2 million renovation/alteration to one of its East Austin restaurants.

The Whataburger at the corner of E Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Airport Boulevard will be getting a massive upgrade this summer, according to a new Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing. This multimillion dollar project, located at 3210 E Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., includes updates to the restaurant and its surrounding space.

The scope of work for the renovation includes significant improvements to the 6,000-square-foot building, its parking lot and landscape, per the TDLR. Whataburger estimates in the filing that the changes will take approximately five months to complete…
