AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department responded to reports of a man found outside and not moving Sunday morning.
The call came in at 6:17 a.m., according to police. The body was found in the 1000 block of East 38th 1/2 St. at an abandoned gas station, per authorities.
Austin-Travis County EMS told KXAN that 6:27 a.m. was the time of death pronounced at the scene.
APD initially said that the death could have been caused by a medical issue, the weather, or both. ATCEMS said later that while only the county’s medical examiner can confirm the cause of death, the agency currently presumes the death was due to hypothermia.
