Texans’ favorite grocery chain has been growing across the Lone Star State for years, especially in Central Texas. H-E-B has been planning several new stores and remodels to its existing ones within the Austin area and that trend isn’t stopping in 2026.
The San Antonio-based grocer is sharing an update on some of its upcoming Austin-area projects in the near future. While some Central Texans will be shopping in brand-new H-E-Bs, others may be seeing their neighborhood stores get a massive upgrade.
Here’s what we know so far about all of H-E-B’s Austin-area developments in 2026:
H-E-B store remodels:
Cedar Park
In December 2025, MySA reported that H-E-B filed two state permits totaling to $500,000 for Austin-area store remodels in Cedar Park and Dripping Springs. The H-E-B at 2800 East Whitestone Blvd., Cedar Park, TX 78613 will be getting a $250,000 interior revamp beginning in February. Construction is expected to be completed by May 2026, according to the TDLR.
Dripping Springs
The H-E-B at 598 E. U.S. Hwy. 290, Dripping Springs, TX 78620 will also be getting a $250,000 remodel beginning in late February this year. Construction is slated to wrap by mid-May 2026, per the TDLR. That H-E-B is also expected to be demolished for a new store in Dripping Springs by 2028.
Hancock
The closest H-E-B to the University of Texas at Austin has been going through a major remodel over the past three years. In 2023, H-E-B began a major $17.5 million remodel to the store within the Hancock Center, located at 1000 E 41st St., Austin, TX 78751. The initial TDLR filing estimated that the project would be finished by March 2025, but an H-E-B spokesperson told MySA last year that the project earlier was delayed to mid fall. More recently, the company confirmed to MySA that this remodel is now expected to be completed by spring 2026.
Kyle
Kyle’s one and only H-E-B, located at 5401 S. FM 1626, Kyle, TX 78640, is getting a huge $28 million facelift this year. Construction on the project began in April 2024 and was initially expected to be completed by March 2025, but it was delayed to early 2026. The expansion is now expected to be done by late March 2026, according to the TDLR.
Bastrop
Expansion plans for H-E-B’s store at 104 Hasler Blvd., Bastrop, TX 78602 were delayed. Last year, the Austin Business Journal reported this H-E-B remodel was supposed to be finished by January 2026, but a company spokesperson recently told MySA the store is now slated to be finished in spring 2026.
New H-E-B stores:
San Marcos
H-E-B is planning to open its third location in San Marcos in fall 2026. The $30 million store, which broke ground last year, is projected to be completed by October 2026, according to its initial TDLR.
McKinney Falls
In December 2025, H-E-B set plans for a massive $40 million store in East Austin. The upcoming McKinney Falls H-E-B is expected to begin construction in July 2026 and will tentatively wrap by October 2027…
