Atwood ties Texas career home run mark, Longhorns go 4-1 in San Antonio

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Senior slugger Reese Atwood is on the brink of program history after the Longhorns’ 4-1 performance at the UTSA Invitational, which concluded Sunday in San Antonio.

With a home run in a 10-0 run-rule win over the host Roadrunners, Atwood now has 58 career home runs to tie Taylor Hoagland for the program record. Atwood smashed three homers across the 5-game tournament slate.

The Longhorns finished the tournament Sunday with wins over No. 25 Washington and UTSA without allowing a run. Texas beat the Huskies 5-0 in six innings due to a travel curfew, and then pounded the Roadrunners 10-0 in five innings due to the mercy rule.
