Road closure: Del Valle intersection temporarily closes for street improvement project

AUSTIN (KXAN) — On Monday, road crews closed off the intersection of Ross Road and Pearce Lane in Del Valle as part of a substandard street improvement project.

The closure for this section is expected to last up to three months, according to the city of Austin.

Right now, the road has only two lanes — and some areas don’t have sidewalks — and the road has been deemed “substandard” for years. The city said this improvement project will reconstruct Ross Road to a five-lane cross-section roadway with pedestrian and bicycle facilities along the corridor.

According to the city, funding for the $30 million project was allocated through the 2020 Mobility Bond.

Due to the closure, detours are available to redirect traffic. According to the city, trucks must use a new route at Circuit of the Americas Boulevard from State Highway 71 or Pearce Lane from State Highway 130…
