George Strait and Miranda Lambert officially received one of the highest honors in Texas music over the weekend.
The Texas Heritage Songwriters Association formally inducted the two country performers into the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame on Feb. 21 at Austin’s ACL Live at The Moody Theater, alongside veteran hitmaker Don Cook and the late Keith Gattis.
Recognizing the Pen Behind the Voice
While Strait is primarily known for his smooth baritone and extensive chart success, he holds several key songwriting credits. His name is attached to tracks like “Here for a Good Time,” “Living for the Night” and “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar.”
Lambert, who grew up in Lindale, Texas, built her career on her own sharp storytelling. She holds writing credits on some of her biggest singles from albums like The Weight of These Wings, including “Tin Man,” “Bluebird” and “Automatic.” She recently noted on social media that her father served as her very first co-writer and taught her how to play the guitar.
