Austin home builder leaves behind neighborhood of half-finished homes in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS (ABJ) — Several dozen half-built homes are sitting neglected about 40 miles northwest of Austin. Some are close to completion, others are just concrete foundations. No work appears to have been done on the sites for several months.

About 20 miles to the east, the neighborhood’s homebuilder – Carrollton-based modular home manufacturer Onx Homes Inc. – quietly vacated a 204,000-square-foot lease at Jackson Shaw Co.’s CrossPoint Business District in Georgetown.

The startup came to the Austin area with much fanfare in 2022, promoting technology that it claimed would allow homes to be built in less than 60 days, and speed up the manufacturing process amid a nationwide shortage of housing stock – all buoyed by a reported $120 million in investor capital. But the company’s future in the region is in doubt…
