AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person is in custody after Austin Police said an attempt to execute a murder arrest warrant at a West Campus apartment complex led to the person barricading themselves.
Officers responded Sunday evening to the Pease Parkside Apartment, located at 1300 W. 24th St. When officers made contact with the suspect, they refused to leave, which prompted a SWAT response.
Around 4:30 p.m., the suspect left the complex, and according to the Austin Police Department, was taken into custody without incident. Police alleged the arrest warrant was related to a previous homicide this year that happened in Austin. Officers did not specify which homicide it was during the media briefing.
Austin Police said West 24th Street will be closed for officers to continue their investigation. At this time, Austin Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public…
