Loc Huynh delves into world of Vietnamese-Americans in local exhibit

The gallery walls are alive with color and the images play with the cartoonish images one finds in the trinkets found in Asian tourist shops.

In artist Loc Huynh’s exhibition “Beyond Sài Gòn,” on display at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas through April 12, there is an element of whimsy that belies a serious examination of Texas’ Vietnamese diaspora.

The Austin native incorporates drawing, acrylic, oils, enamel, watercolor and aerosols, as well as decorative adornments to create his rich, vibrant artworks…
