Austin Police say guns continue to be stolen from vehicles in Northwest Austin, even though the number of burglaries has dropped since early 2024. Officers urge residents to take precautions:
- Never leave a gun in your vehicle
- Keep a written or photo record of your gun’s serial number, make, and model
- Park in well-lit areas and always lock your car
- Don’t leave keys inside or keep the engine running
